Attractions

There are no waves on any beach in the world like the northern beach of Nazaré, Portugal. At 30 meters or more, it is the waves that happen here only in winter. For big wave surfers, Nazaré's giant waves are now a record-breaking place. The gigantic waves of Nazareth have to do with very special geological conditions.

Fátima is 50 km from Valado dos Frades and has about 9,500 inhabitants. It is a place of pilgrimage for many Catholics hoping for a miraculous improvement in their illnesses. Fátima is Portugal's most important port of call for pilgrims from all over the world, even before the Portuguese Way of Santiago (Caminho Português).

The market hall is located in the middle of Nazaré. You get everything your heart desires. Freshly caught fish, fruits, vegetables, nuts, sweet potatoes from the oven, cheese, sausage and homemade cakes / pies.

The Monastery of Alcobaca has been a World Heritage Site since 1989 and is one of the largest monasteries in Portugal, with the largest church in the country today.

It is one of the most attractive historical sites in Portugal, with over 250.000 visitors a year.
